Women’s Cricket: India defeat South Africa by 5 wickets in fifth T20

In women’s cricket, India defeated South Africa by five wickets in the fifth T20 International yesterday taking an unassailable 3-0 lead in the six-match series.

With two games being completely washed out, the series was extended from five to six matches and India needed to win yesterday’s match to clinch the series.

Indian spinners Deepti Sharma  (2 for 19) and Radha Yadav  (3 for 23) bowled brilliantly and restricted South Africa to 98/8 in 20 overs. Chasing a modest target skipper Harmanpreet Kaur slammed 34 not out off 32 balls  as the Women in Blue won in 17.1 overs. The 6th T-20 international will be played today at 7 PM in Surat.
