With 1000 artifacts Delhi’s famous Jaipur House to reopen

New Delhi: The Maharaja of Jaipur has been a place of residence in Delhi and the luxurious Jaipur House, currently known as the House of the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA), has been restored with its former pride after a year-long renovation. It can soon be opened to ordinary citizens with the grand retrospective exhibition of a Buddhist and Gandhian artist Upendra Maharathi.

Jaipur House has exhibited a thousand artefacts throughout its lifetime, but now the work in the interiors of the entire Jaipur House is yet to be seen, the new work is widely spread and many art forms, such as architecture, Displays, textiles, paintings, crafts, bamboo, sculpture, ceramics.Speaking to the media here, Director General of NGMA and sculptor Advaita Gadnayak said, “Most of the works have been donated to the National Gallery of Modern Art by Mahashweta, daughter of Maharthi.”

He said other artifacts have been relished by his reserve collection of Upendra Maharthi Craft Ritual Institute, Patna Museum and Gallery. As soon as he enters the corridors and halls of the recently restored Jaipur House, the exhibition by Gadnayak and his team shows a set of unique chairs designed by Maharathi for Buddhist monasteries.
