2020 was a difficult year for people in most industries and they had to find different ways to adapt to the changing conditions. Many of the films took the OTT path and opted for a digital release during the pandemic as only a few movies could wait it out for a theatrical release. Vidya Balan’s Sherni is another film that makes it to the list of direct to digital releases as the makers have struck a deal with Amazon Prime.
Vidya Balan ‘Shakuntala Devi’ had also opted for an OTT release with Amazon Prime. Sherni is said to be a film that explores the conflict between humans and wildlife in the modern world and is also based on true incidents.
Vidya Balan plays the role of a forest officer in ‘Sherni’. Apart from her, we can see Vijay Raaz, Sharat Saxena, Neeraj Kabi, Ila Arun, Mukul Chadda, and Brijendra Kala portraying essential roles in this film.
Sherni is directed by Amit Masurkar (famous for Newton) and written by Astha Tegu. Vidya Balan’s character is said to have underlying comic tones as the film shows us a bunch of dedicated forest officers and how they handle the human-wildlife conflict that has increased in the recent past.
Sherni is being produced by Abundantia Entertainment and T-Series. The situation becomes more and more unpredictable as the days go by with India rushing to stop a second wave in the nation. The makers of the film may have been jolted into this step due to the volatile nature of the virus and its direct impact on theatres right now.
