Vantika Agrawal is the new India Women No.3 in Chess and the 11th Indian women to achieve International Master (IM) title
WGM Vantika Agrawal, a student of SRCC, has played 4 International tournaments in the last 2 months where she has increased her FIDE rating by 61 points, reaching 2428, and becoming the No. 3 Woman player in India. She has achieved her 3rd and final IM norm in Budapest to become the 11th Indian woman to achieve International Master Tittle in Chess. Now her target is the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
Vantika became the women’s champion at the Menorca Open last month in Spain. She has also won a bronze medal in the National Women’s Championship held in Kohlapur in January 2023 and a gold medal for the Airport Authority of India in February 2023.
She played on Board 1 for India 2 Team at the 44th Chess Olympiad in 2022 and was the only Indian player to achieve the IM norm.
In 2021, Vantika achieved the Woman Grand Master title, became the National Women’s Champion, and won gold for SRCC in the FIDE Binance B-Schools Cup. In 2020 she was part of the Indian gold medal-winning team in the Olympiad. These are some of her many accolades.
She was honored by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and even honored with the President’s Award by former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee for her excellence in sports.
