In Uttarakhand, rescue operations are in full swing at the Joshimath town as land subsidence continues in the area. District Disaster Management Department said, cracks have been observed in 561 buildings.
Following the cracks, 38 families have been relocated. Affected people are being shifted to night shelter homes. Disaster Management Secretary Ranjit Kumar Sinha said, water is seeping out from some unknown place which is dangerous as it is creating a vacuum and causing sinking. He said, they need to regulate and make stringent building by laws. Divisional Commissioner of Garhwal, Sushil Kumar said, the situation is being monitored. Tourists are banned from staying in hotels damaged by landslides.
