Uttar Pradesh to have 5 international airports soon – Uttar Pradesh is set to become the state with a maximum of five international airports. The State government is soon going to start international flights from the state’s third airport, Kushinagar airport. The central and state governments are also preparing to start international airlines from Ayodhya and Jewar soon.
At present, there are 34 international airports in the country. The maximum four international airports are in the state of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Five other airports including Gorakhpur, Hindon, Agra, Prayagraj, and now Bareilly have become functional in the state of UP.
After having international airports in Lucknow and Varanasi, the work of Kushinagar International Airport has been completed. In the coming time, the Jewar Green Field International Airport of Noida and the International Airport of Ayodhya will also be ready soon. After having 5 international airports in the state, many other employment opportunities will also arise giving a boost to the tourism sector in the state.
Other projects
The Uttar Pradesh government is giving impetus to mega infrastructure projects lined up in the state. Four expressways are under construction and the construction work of Purvanchal Expressway is in its last stage. Over 90 % of the construction work is complete. The 340-kilometer expressway connects one of the eastern-most districts in the state, Ghazipur, with the capital, Lucknow. The expressway passes through nine districts, including Lucknow, Barabanki, Faizabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Amethi, Sultanpur, Azamgarh, Mau and Ghazipur
Uttar Pradesh is also working on two other expressways — 296-km-long Bundelkhand Expressway and 594-km-long Ganga Expressway. Bundelkhand Expressway will be India’s safest highway which is all set to get operational by the end of 2021. This 296 km long four-lane highway is announced as the country’s safest four-lane expressway as it is based on Forgiving Roads (FR) aiming at minimizing or avoiding road accidents.
