Uttar Pradesh police came under scanner after a video started doing the rounds on the internet. The video is widely shared on social media, and it can be seen that UP police is harassing a girl for having an affair with Muslim boy. The incident happened in Meerut, and according to reports the girl was allegedly rescued from VHP workers by police who were harassing her for having a relation with Muslim. But after the rescue police officials started torturing her for the same, and in the video the girl is being slapped by lady constable.
According to reports, Vishwa Hindu Parishad workers were harassing an interfaith couple in a Meerut college. The men also reportedly forcefully dragged the couple to the police station. According to a leading daily report, while the men were left without any case being filed against them, the police detained the couple and called the girl’s parents.
The video was recorded by police while harassing her on the way and asking her questions why she chose a Muslim boy to fall in love with.
This is not the first time that VHP has taken to moral policing and harassment when it comes to interfaith couples. The VHP had published a list of ‘dos and don’ts’ for girls and the communal brochure also warned Hindu girls against getting lured by Muslim boys.
