Uttar Pradesh government has decided to recommend for CBI enquiry of the alleged fraud by SBI officials in Gola Gokaran Nath branch of Khiri district in state. An FIR has been registered last year against accused officials by bank authorities for embezzlement of Rs 2 crore. After the investigation an embezzlement of more than 7.5 crore rupees was found.
The issue came to light after an audit by senior officials of SBI from Lucknow. The accused have allegedly fraudulently increased the credit limit of loan accounts of many local traders and withdrew the money without their knowledge. Several account holders had made complaints with the branch head in Lucknow about the unwanted increase in their credit limit.
