Union Minister Giriraj Singh appeals to NIFT students to expand textiles sector to $350 Billion

Union Minister for Textiles Giriraj Singh has appealed to students of NIFT to contribute their optimum to expand the textiles sector to 350 Billion dollar size.

Mr Singh was addressing a function at the IFT Patna campus yesterday on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of NIFT.

The Union Minister said India is leading in the fabric sector as it is exporting to around 400 global brands but the Indian fashion industry needs to grow more given its huge potential in this sector.

Mr. Singh whether it is climate change crusader or global health we are among the top leading countries, so whyn’t Indian fashion be promoted to such a scale?

The Union Minister praised the NIFT with 19 pan India campuses and around 13 thousand students saying that its popularity is at par with IIT.

Mentioning the ethnic wear of the country Mr. Singh due to the brand of Bharat it is also very popular because it carries the country’s legacy and heritage.

Mr. Singh said fast fashion and traditional fashion can move forward hand-in-hand so NIFT students must take care of it.
