As many as one thousand one hundred 17 Indian nationals have been evacuated from Iran under Operation Sindhu. The Ministry of External Affairs said last night, 290 Indian nationals have returned home safely from Iran on a special flight from Mashhad that landed in New Delhi. Yesterday evening, another evacuation flight from Mashhad landed in New Delhi with 310 Indian nationals from Iran.
Meanwhile, Nepal and Sri Lanka have expressed gratitude to India for assisting in evacuating their citizens under Operation Sindhu from conflict-hit Iran. Nepal’s Foreign Minister Arzu Rana Deuba thanked External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar for assisting in evacuating Nepali students. In a social media post, she expressed gratitude for India’s swift assistance in helping to evacuate Nepali nationals from Iran. Ms Deuba said that India’s support in the evacuation of Nepali citizens is a reflection of the strength of Nepal-India ties.Earlier, Sri Lanka extended its sincere gratitude to the Government of India for the timely assistance in evacuating Sri Lankan nationals from Iran alongside Indian citizens. In a social media post, the Foreign Ministry of Sri Lanka stated that the act of solidarity exemplifies the strong and enduring partnership between Sri Lanka and India and is deeply appreciated by the people of the island nation.
The Indian Embassy in Iran said that it had made efforts to evacuate citizens of Nepal and Sri Lanka and noted that the efforts were made at the request of the Governments of Nepal and Sri Lanka
