In Madhya Pradesh, two-wheeler dealers in the state will have to provide two helmets to the customers with every new vehicle.
In another way, it also means that every customer will now have to buy two helmets with their vehicle. The state transport department has asked all regional transport officers (RTOs) to make sure that the two-wheeler driver has bought two helmets with his vehicle.
As per the order issued by Transport Commissioner two helmet rules should be checked effectively during the registration of the vehicle. Automobile dealers have also been asked to take the responsibility to convince the citizens to buy two helmets along with their two-wheeler.
The idea is to ensure the implementation of MP high court orders, which makes it compulsory for two-wheeler drivers to wear a helmet.
According to Section 129 of Motor Vehicles Act, it is mandatory for driver and pillion rider on a two-wheeler to wear helmets. Earlier, the state government has started no helmet- no fuel drive to make sure that people wear a helmet while driving two-wheelers.
