In Jammu & Kashmir, the cordon and search operation is underway to retrieve bodies of terrorists in Khrew locale of South Kashmir’s Awantipora area of Pulwama district. The encounter between terrorists and joint team of security forces broke out in the area today forenoon following launch of cordon and search operation on the basis of presence of terrorists in Zantrag Khrew locale of Awantipora area in the district.
Security sources said as the forces zeroed in on the suspected place, the hiding terrorists fired indiscriminately triggering gunfight. They said one army man and a police man were killed during the operation whileas the operation is in progress to look for terrorist bodies and also the terrorists that may be hiding in the area.
Eight terrrorists have been killed during this month till date. The slain includes seven Hizbul terrorists and one Jaish cadre whileas one top commander of Hizbul Mujahideen Waseem Wani was killed in an encounter in Wachi Zainpora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district yesterday.
Security sources informed that following the arrest of DSP Davinder Singh & Hizb top commander Naveed Babu recently, the search operations have been launched at several places in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Such operations have been launched in Khanpora Baramulla, General Bus Stand, Sabzi Market, Main Chowk Baramulla and Tawheed Gunj Baramulla, to look for terrorists hiding in these areas.
