The torch relay for the Khelo India Youth Games 2020 reached Hailakandi.
The relay in Hailakandi began with the former international footballer, Jowel Bey leading from the front.
Around 150 torchbearers comprising students, sportspersons and officials traversed through the main thoroughfares of the town before culminating at the Nazrul Sadan premises from where the torch relay started.
With only 2 days left for the third Khelo India youth games to begin in Guwahati, the game is all set to be the biggest sporting event in the country with close to 12 thousand participants including athletes.
Talking to AIR, Chief Executive Officer of the games Avinash Joshi said that nearly 6500 athletes to take part in the event which is the highest in comparison to last 2 events.
He said that games will be held in 20 disciplines in Guwahati. Khelo India games are scheduled to start on 10th January in Guwahati.
