The withdrawal of forces from India and China from both sides of Pengong Lake in eastern Ladakh has been completed. After which now the 10th round of Corps Commander level talks will be held between the two countries in Moldo at 10 am on Saturday.
With the withdrawal of armored, tank and paved construction from the northern and southern shores of Pangong Lake to both sides of the Pengong Lake area in eastern Ladakh, withdrawal of troops from both countries in the first phase of the four-phase process . Other areas of conflict with China will be discussed in the meeting to be held on Saturday.
Army retracted under agreement from 10 February
In fact, the foundation of the current agreement with China was laid in the 7th round meeting held on 12 October between the military commanders of the two countries. After this, in the 8th and 9th round of meeting, a way was found to resolve the deadlock that had been going on for 10 months. India’s final verbal agreement with China was reached on 24 January. China sent back a written document on 9 February and it was signed by India on the morning of 10 February.
From the same day, China started retreating from the southern and northern banks of Pangong Lake, which the Chinese Ministry of Defense itself issued a statement. By the evening of 11 February, over 200 Chinese tanks had returned to the Rutog military base, which was about 90–100 km from Moldo. Meanwhile, India also pulled its tanks back to Loma, a small military base near Nyoma.
Army confirmed by releasing photos and videos
The ongoing process of retreating from the Pangong area following the Indo-China agreement has been confirmed for the first time by releasing authorized photographs and videos from the military. Along with this, troops of India and China have also started migrating from Kailash Range south of Pangong. This process was done rapidly because it was targeted to be completed by Friday. The process, which began on February 10, is to be completed in four stages.
In the first phase, tank-armored trains have been returned. In the second and third phases the infantry has been moved back from the north and south sides. In the fourth phase there has been a process of retreat from some important peaks. This will be followed by a 10th round of Corps Commander talks at Moldo on Saturday at 10 am to discuss other conflict zones including Gogra, Hotspring and Depsang.
