Tamil Nadu CM waives off Rs 12 thousand 110 crore farm loans

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy has waived off loan amount of Rs.12 thousand 110 crore given to the farmers of the State.

In a suo moto statement in the State Assembly today, he said that this would benefit 12 lakh 43 thousand farmers.  It is to be observed that the framers of the entire state had suffered damages due to heavy rains during the monsoon .

Particularly the farmers of the southern districts doubly suffered due to the off season rains in January this year.

In order to assess the damages a central team has been deputed by the Central Government in the State on a three day visit to the rain hit areas and assess the damages. Yesterday the team visited the southern districts and today they are assessing the damages in the Northern districts.

The team would submit the report to the Centre after the assessment.
