In view of the upcoming annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra scheduled to commence from 1st July this year, a Joint Security Conference of Security Forces and Civil Administration Officers was held in Budgam. The conference was aimed at increasing synergy, interaction and coordination between the civil and various security agencies for the smooth and successful pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine.

The 62 days long Yatra to the 3,880 metre-high holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnathji is scheduled to start from two routes – the traditional 48-km Nunwan route in Pahalgam of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district and the 14-km Baltal route in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

According to Defence Spokesperson, the detailed briefing and discussions provided an opportunity for deliberations on important issues impacting the security of the Yatra. All officials present on the occasion stressed the need for harmonious functioning of the government agencies for making the Yatra smooth and successful.

The Spokesperson said that an overview of the security was also undertaken to ensure complete synergy between all security agencies and the civil administration for a coordinated effort towards the achievement of the laid down goals for the incident-free Yatra.
