Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty50 ended on the green side of the market on Tuesday. Buying interest was seen in Realty and IT stocks. Selling pressure was witnessed in PSE and Pvt bank shares. HCL Tech was the top gainer among blue-chip stocks, surged 2.17 per cent. Axis Bank, Bajaj Auto, Tech Mahindra, and Reliance were among the other top Sensex gainers. While IndusInd Bank, Kotak Mahindra, Power Grid Corp and Sun Pharma were laggards.
Earlier in Asian Indices, Singapore’s Straits Times rose by 0.56 per cent, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index surged by 1.83 per cent and China’s Shanghai Composite increased by 1.12 per cent.
Market Overview
The BSE Sensex and Nifty50 increased by 0.29 and 0.31 per cent, respectively. The Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed at 58,250 level while Nifty50 of the National Stock Exchange settled at the 17,377 mark. The Sensex gained 166 points to trade at 58,296 and the Nifty50 rose by 54 points to trade at 17,377.
Nifty50 Index
In Nifty50 index shares, Wipro was the biggest gainer, increased by 4.79 per cent. HCL Tech, Infosys, Hindalco, Reliance and Eicher Motors were among the other gainers.
On the other hand, IOC was the worst performer in the pack, down by 1.33 per cent. IndusInd Bank, ONGC, Britannia, Kotak Mahindra, Power Grid Corp and Asian Paints were the other worst performers in the pack.
Small-cap and Mid-cap Indices
The Nifty Midcap-100 index rose 0.41 per cent and the Nifty Smallcap-100 index surged 1.09 per cent. In Nifty Midcap 100, Prestige Estate gained 13.43 per cent, Indiamart Inter rose 9.61 per cent, Oberoi Realty, Godrej Agrovet and Escorts also surged, while Adani Total gas, ICICI Securities and Hindustan Aeronautics declined. In Nifty Smallcap-100, Vakrangee gained 13.82 per cent. On the other hand, IDFC fell 2.42 per cent, Mazagon Dock, Birla Corp and Rail Vikas declined.
Sectoral Indices
In NSE sectoral indices, 10 out of 20 sectors surged. Nifty Realty was the top performer as it gained 3.16 per cent, Nifty IT rose 1.50 per cent, followed by Nifty Media increased by 1.32 per cent. On the other hand, Nifty Pvt Bank was the worst performer, down by 0.54 per cent, followed by Nifty PSE declined by 0.47 per cent.
