Equity benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty50 ended on the green side of the market on Thursday. Buying interest was seen across all sectors. Power Grid Corp was the top gainer among blue-chip stocks, surged 6.22 per cent. Tech Mahindra, Bajaj Auto, Titan Company, and Bajaj Finserv were among the other top Sensex gainers. While Dr Reddys Labs, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank and M&M were laggards.
Earlier in Asian Indices, South Korea’s Kospi fell by 0.38 per cent, Japan’s Nikkei 225 index declined by 0.20 per cent and China’s Shanghai Composite fell by 0.22 per cent.
Market Overview
The BSE Sensex and Nifty50 increased by 0.58 and 0.50 per cent respectively. The Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange closed at 54,800 level while Nifty50 of the National Stock Exchange settled at the 16,364 mark. The Sensex gained 318 points to trade at 54,843 and the Nifty50 rose by 82 points to trade at 16,364.
Nifty50 Index
In Nifty50 index shares, Power Grid Corp was the biggest gainer, increased by 6.04 per cent. Tech Mahindra, Tata Motors, Bajaj Auto, Larsen and Titan Company were among the other gainers.
On the other hand, Eicher Motors was the worst performer in the pack, down by 3.74 per cent. Grasim, Axix Bank, Dr Reddys Labs, IndusInd Bank, IOC and Cipla were the other worst performers in the pack.
Small-cap and Mid-cap Indices
The Nifty Midcap-100 index surged 1.01 per cent and the Nifty Smallcap-100 index rose 2.12 per cent. In Nifty Midcap 100, Dhani Services gained 7.18 per cent, MRPL rose 6.04 per cent, Bharat Forge, Apollo tyres and Quess Corp also surged, while Vodafone Idea, IDFC First Bank and Ramco Cements declined. In Nifty Smallcap-100, VIP Industries gained 20.00 per cent. On the other hand, GSFC fell 1.83 per cent, Metropolis, IDFC and Dilip Buildcon declined.
Sectoral Indices
In NSE sectoral indices, 15 out of 17 sectors surged. Nifty Media was the top performer as it gained 2.28 per cent, Nifty IT rose 1.82 per cent, followed by Nifty PSE increased by 1.51 per cent. On the other hand, Nifty Pharma was the worst performer, down by 1.11 per cent, followed by Nifty Healthcare declined by 0.39 per cent.
