Second solicitor general P S Narasimha resigns

New Delhi: Yet another Additional Solicitor General P S Narasimha, who conducted some of the major cases for the Centre including the Italian Marines case and NJAC (judges’ appointment) case, has put in his papers citing reasons, giving a 3-month notice that ends on December 15. The govt is yet to take a call on it. Sandeep Sethi is another ASG who resigned recently. Narasimha was appointed ASG in 2014 when the Modi government came to power.

With his exit, the government now has six ASGs in the Apex Court. The post of the Solicitor General has been lying  vacant for nearly a year now  after Ranjit Kumar resigned from the post on October 20 last year, months after Mukul Rohatgi, another appointee of the Modi government, resigned as the Attorney General and who was replaced by K K Venugopal on June 30 last year.
