Second Phase Of Hyderabad Metro Rail Project To Be Commence From January 2025

Over 63 crore 40 lakh passengers have used the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) during the past 7 years, ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the public transport system in Hyderabad in 2017.

As part of the Phase-I Hyderabad Metro Rail, a 30 kms stretch from Miyapur came into operation 7 years ago.

Now, the Hyderabad Metro Rail project has expanded to 69 kilometres in 3 corridors with 57 stations. HMR has distinctive recognition as the biggest Metro Rail project in the world, under the Public Private Partnership mode.

HMR Limited Managing Director NVS Reddy has informed that the works on the second phase of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Project will be commencing from the first week of January next year.

He said five corridors of the phase -II of over 76 km of line will be taken up at a cost over 24 thousand 29 crore rupees in Joint Venture mode. He elaborated that the Central government will bear 18 percent of cost while the state Government will have 30 percent while 48 per cent resources will be raised through debts and only 4 percent will be taken up under PPP mode.

He added that the underground corridor will be only 1.6 km near the airport in the entire Phase-II. He also said except 11 hundred properties, all others are public properties in the elevated corridors.
