BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian team for the upcoming 2024 T20 World Cup. Mr. Shah assured that India will lift the T20 World Cup in Barbados, West Indies under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. He was attending a function at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot yesterday. During the event, the stadium was renamed after the veteran cricket administrator Niranjan Shah. The event also featured Sunil Gavaskar, Anil Kumble, IPL chairman Arun Dhumal, current chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and incumbent head coach Rahul Dravid among others.
The 2024 edition of the T20 World Cup will be organized in the Caribbean and the USA from 1st June to 29th June this year. India will begin their campaign against Ireland in New York on 5th June and take on arch-rivals Pakistan on 9th June. A total of three venues in the USA and six in the Caribbean will be used for the ninth edition of the 20-over Men’s T20 World Cup. The World Cup will feature 20 teams this time.
