Rewari (Haryana) [India], Nov 19 :When nature call, we need a toilet,” said Priyanka Yadav, a resident from Rewari, who wrote a letter to the concerned administration, urging them to build toilets for women at public places in the city.
Priyanka told Indsamachar that recently when she went to Punjabi market in Rewari along with her friend for shopping, she looked for a women toilet but did not find any. After asking the shopkeepers about the toilet in the area, she got stunned to know that there was no toilet for women.
She has also written to the Chief Minister Office (CMO) in Chandigarh urging them to direct the administration to build toilets for women at public places.
“I also wrote to the CMO Chandigarh. The CMO has directed Commissioner and Nagar Parishad’s Executive Officer to submit a report regarding the same. Also, the existing toilets are occupied by anti-social elements,” Priyanka said.
Another resident of Rewari said that new toilets were built in the area but was captured by men. “New toilets were built a few times back but was captured by men who are involved in drinking alcohol and drugs activities. Hence, it is not safe to go in there. Around eight toilets for women exist here but are locked,” she added.
