Days after the government announced the Agnipath scheme, the country saw several protests against the scheme. Perhaps some of the youth who took to the streets to protest the scheme are under the impression that their future is in doubt. But the reality is far off.
The Agnipath scheme and the government through alternative mechanisms has opened several avenues to address many of their concerns. To combat the wide spread misinformation about the scheme, and also communicate the salient features of it, National Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) will reach out to the youth across the country in a mission mode.
The scheme offers many attractive perks to the agniveers such as financial package and bank loan schemes for entrepreneurs among them. The government has announced that arrangements have been made to enable the 10th pass agniveers to obtain a 12th class certificate. The agniveers leaving armed forces after 4 years will be accorded priority in CAPFs and State Police.
Many are under the impression that the opportunities to work in the Army will decrease, but it should be noted that the recruitment for Agniveers will triple in the coming years. There are already many other nations that utilize similar schemes, to provide the country with a younger army. Through this scheme the army will get tested and trained personnel to man the supervisory ranks.
Information campaign by NYKS
Besides the field officials of NYKS, members of Youth Clubs and all other stakeholders will join together to disseminate information about this transformational scheme, and amplify the message particularly among the youth. The grassroot machinery of NYKS has been asked to mobilize maximum youth volunteers to facilitate this outreach programme.
NYKS plans to achieve this objective through personal and peer contact, bulk messaging through Telephone/Whatsapp and usage of social media platforms, Door to Door contact and by using the platforms of ongoing programmes of NYKS.
Nehru Yuva Kendras
Nehru Yuva Kendras were established in 1972 with the objective of providing rural youth avenues to take part in the process of nation building as well providing opportunities for the development of their personality and skills. Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) was set up later as an autonomous organization under the Government to oversee the working of these kendras. NYKS aims to develop such skills and values in youth with which they become responsible and productive citizens of our nation. The mission on which they are about to embark on is aigning with that vision.
