Nation surpassed all previous landmarks in terms of daily administration of vaccine doses today with nearly 80 lakh doses given to beneficiaries of all age groups across the country. So far, around 28.80 crore doses of COVID vaccine have been administered in the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, today’s record-breaking vaccination numbers are gladdening. He said, the vaccine remains our strongest weapon to fight COVID-19. Mr Modi also congratulated those who got vaccinated and lauded all the front-line warriors working hard to ensure so many citizens got the vaccine.
The Union Health Ministry said, this major feat has been achieved on the first day of the largest free vaccination campaign in the world which kick-started in the country today.
All citizens above the age of 18 can avail free vaccination at any government facility. The Centre will buy 75 per cent of the total vaccine production from vaccine manufacturers and give it to the state governments free of cost. No state government will have to spend anything on the vaccine. All vaccination centres, government and private, would provide on-site registration facilities. Registration on the Co-Win app is not mandatory.
Speaking to AIR, resident of Delhi Naresh Saini appreciated the Central government’s decision to provide free vaccination. He urged everyone to come forward to taking the vaccine.
