Bangladesh reported 101 deaths for the second consecutive day even as hard lockdown in the country entered its fourth day on Saturday. This is the highest death toll two days in a row, since the first Corona positive case was reported in Bangladesh on March 8 last year.
With this the COVID 19 death toll in the country has gone up to 10,283. On Saturday, 3473 fresh Corona infections were also reported taking the total number of infected people to over 7.11 lakh. The positivity rate remained high at 23.36 percent. Mass vaccination is continuing in the country with approx 57 lakh people receiving the first dose and over 11.51 lakh people getting the second dose. The number of people receiving the second dose on Saturday was 2.21 lakh while the number of people who received the first dose during the same period was only 12,157.
The strict lockdown in the country entered its 4th day on Saturday. In the capital city Dhaka, the impact of the lockdown was visible with very few vehicles and people seen on the road. Shops were also closed. However, compared to Friday, the number of vehicles and people on the road was larger on Saturday. Police were seen enforcing the lockdown at various places in the town.
Reports from places outside Dhak like Chattogram, Barisal, Noakhali say that the lockdown is being observed in most of the places with very few vehicles seen on the road, shops closed and number of people being small on the streets.
