With the wickets of Quinton de Kock, Faf du Plessis and George Linde, Umesh Yadav became only the second fast bowler to pick 3-plus wickets in five successive innings in India after West Indies legend Courtney Walsh.

Earlier in India’s innings, Umesh Yadav swung the long handle to reap maximum rewards in Ranchi as he hit 5 sixes in his 31-run innings, which became the fastest 30+ score in Test history – at least in all games where ball-by-ball data is available. Umesh’s strike-rate of 310 is now the highest for an innings of 30 or more runs in Test history, beating by one delivery, the previous holder Stephen Fleming’s 31* off 11 balls.
