Rajnath Singh to vist Leh to review operational preparedness, security situation

Soon after Indian Army carried out a big wargame on the China border in Ladakh region, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is all set to visit Leh to review the security situation.

“The defence minister is scheduled to visit the Ladakh region on Monday next week where he will review the operational preparedness and security situation on the mountainous border with both Pakistan and China border,” defence ministry sources said.

The defence minister is also scheduled to visit the forward locations and positions of Indian Army in the area which is one of the coldest military operational zones in the world.

Indian Army carried out an integrated exercise named ‘Chang Thang’ at a high altitude area in the region recently.

It involved the use of infantry, mechanised forces, T-72 tanks, with force multipliers such as artillery guns and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. The army’s aviation assets were also used.

Soon after taking over as defence minister, Singh’s first visit was to the Siachen war memorial where he had met with troops and also extended all ossicle support for operations there.
