President Droupadi Murmu paid floral tributes to Bharat Ratna Babasaheb Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar, fondly known as Babasaheb Ambedkar at Bhubaneswar this morning. She offered her tribute at the statue of Babasaheb at AG Square in the capital city of Odisha along with Governor Raghubar Das and many other dignitaries on the occasion of ‘Mahaparinirvan Diwas’ which marks the 69th death anniversary of the revered leader, thinker and reformer who dedicated his life to championing equality and eradicating caste-based discrimination. The President, who is on a five-day visit to her home state Odisha from Tuesday, will visit her native place Uparbeda in the Mayurbhanj district this afternoon. She is scheduled to attend a number of programmes in Mayurbhanj district today and tomorrow.
