Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda today called upon the people to adopt the pledge for taking care of liver health, get it checked regularly, and embrace a healthy lifestyle. The minister said this while addressing the “Liver Health Pledge Ceremony” at a Health Camp organised by the ministry in New Delhi. Underlining the importance of liver health, Mr Nadda said that if the liver is not healthy, the entire body suffers. He added that poor liver health can lead to heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, or even cancer. Mr Nadda also raised the risk of fatty liver disease and said it is preventable and even reversible through the adoption of a healthy lifestyle and healthy food habits.
At the camp, Mr Nadda led the participants to pledge to make informed food choices, lead healthier lifestyles, reduce edible oil intake by at least 10 percent and spread awareness about fighting obesity. He was accompanied by the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Anupriya Patel. This year’s World Liver Day theme is Food is Medicine, emphasising the critical connection between nutrition and liver health.
