Some time ago a post on social media became quite viral, which attracted the attention of all the big personalities of the country. In fact, a five-month-old girl named Tara Kamat of Mumbai suffers from a rare genetic disease. His treatment and medicine cost around Rs 16 crore.
But there were many difficulties in the midst of the import of the drug. But as soon as this information reached the Prime Minister of the country i.e. PM Modi, he should take steps for quick help. Giving information about this, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the import of life-saving drugs for a five-month-old girl has been exempted from customs duty and other duties.

According to the information, the child is suffering from a rare genetic disease and has to be treated through changes in the gene. Gene replacement is the only cure for this disease. For this, medicines worth Rs 16 crore are required to be imported from the US. In its treatment, a drug called ‘Jholjensma’ is used. But the price of this medicine is around 16 crores.
Devendra Fadnavis gave information to PM
Although the family raised the funds through crowd funding, there was a separate expenditure on custom duty and GST of more than Rs 6 crore from the US. The family reached out to Devendra Fadnavis about this problem. Fadnavis wrote a letter to PM Modi about this and demanded waiving of custom duty and GST for the drug.

Price of medicine reduced by about 6 crores
In view of the seriousness of the case, the PM completely waived the custom duty and GST on the medicine used for treatment. After this, the price of the drug was reduced by about Rs 6 crore. Thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving exemption from customs duty and other duties on import of life saving drugs for a five-month-old baby girl.
