PM Modi to inaugurate Patna Airport terminal, launch development projects worth ₹48,520 cr in Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Bihar tomorrow. On the 29th of May, Mr. Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the new terminal building of Jayaprakash Narayan International Patna Airport at approximately 5:45 PM. Following the inauguration, he will hold a roadshow in Patna.

On 30th May, Mr. Modi will visit Bikramganj in Rohtas district. He will inaugurate, lay the foundation stone for, and dedicate multiple development projects worth over 48,520 crore rupees. He is also scheduled to address a public meeting at the venue.

The new terminal building at Patna Airport, constructed at a cost of approximately 1,200 crore rupees, is set to significantly enhance the airport’s annual passenger handling capacity to one crore. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation stone for the new civil enclave of Bihta (बिहटा ) Airport, a project worth over 1,410 crore rupees. Bihta Airport is intended to serve Patna and its rapidly developing adjacent areas, which are emerging as an educational hub, housing IIT Patna and the proposed NIT Patna campus.

In Bikramganj, the Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for Stage-II of the Nabinagar Super Thermal Power Project in Aurangabad district. This project, with an accumulated capacity of 2400 MW, is worth over 29,930 crore rupees. Upon completion, the Nabinagar STP project is expected to ensure energy security for Bihar and Eastern India, fostering industrial growth, creating job opportunities, and providing affordable electricity in the region.

In a significant boost to road infrastructure and connectivity in the region, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for various road projects. These include the Four-Laning of the Patna-Arrah-Sasaram section of NH-119A, the Six-Laning of the Varanasi-Ranchi-Kolkata highway NH-319B, and the Ramnagar-Kacchi Dargah stretch of NH-119D. He will also commence construction work on a new Ganga bridge between Buxar and Bharauli. These projects aim to establish seamless high-speed corridors in Bihar, thereby boosting trade and regional connectivity. Mr. Modi will also inaugurate the Four-Laning of the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi section of NH-22, a project worth around 5,520 crore rupees, and the Four-Laning of the elevated highway and grade improvements at Gopalganj Town on NH-27. Furthermore, the Prime Minister will dedicate to the nation the third Rail Line between Son Nagar-Mohammad Ganj, a project valued at over 1,330 crore rupees.
