Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated ‘Azadi@75 – New Urban India: Transforming Urban Landscape’ Conference-cum-Expo today at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
The Prime Minister digitally handovered keys of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) houses to 75,000 beneficiaries in 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh and also interacted virtually with beneficiaries of the scheme in Uttar Pradesh.
PM Modi laid the foundation stone for 75 urban development projects in Uttar Pradesh under the Smart Cities Mission and AMRUT; flag off 75 buses under FAME-II for 7 cities, including Lucknow, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Kanpur, Varanasi, Jhansi, and Ghaziabad; and released a Coffee Table Book encompassing 75 projects implemented under the Ministry of Housing and Urban affairs Flagship Missions.
The PM also had a look at the three exhibitions that have been set up at the Expo. The Prime Minister also announced the setting up of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Chair at Lucknow’s Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University.
Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Housing & Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, along with the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Yogi Adityanath were present on the occasion.
About the Conference-cum-Expo
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) is organising a Conference-cum-Expo from the 5th to the 7th of October 2021 as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.’ It is centred on the changing urban landscape, with a particular focus on the transformational changes that have occurred in Uttar Pradesh. The Conference-cum-Expo will be attended by all States/UTs, which will aid in experience sharing, commitment, and action planning.
The exhibitions will highlight MoHUA’s accomplishments so far under several Flagship Urban Missions. Clean Urban India, Water Secure Cities, Housing for All, New Construction Technologies, Smart City Development, Sustainable Mobility, and Cities Promoting Livelihood Opportunities will be the themes of the exhibits.
The Conference-cum-Expo will be open to the public for two days – from 6th to 7th October 2021.
