Prime Minister Narendra Modi has asserted that INS Vikrant is an example of the government’s thrust to make India’s defence sector self-reliant. He was speaking after commissioning the country’s first Indigenous Aircraft Carrier Vikrant at a ceremony at the Cochin Shipyard a short while ago. The commissioning marks a significant step towards Atmanirbharata in the defence sector. The country has now joined a handful of nations having the capability to design and build an aircraft carrier. The Prime Minister also unveiled the new ensign of the Indian Navy on the occasion.
