The government’s flagship scheme Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) marks its second anniversary today. In a short span of two years, this scheme has become very popular through various government initiatives even as its benefits have reached to over 10 crore farmers till September 2020.
“The Government of India conducted a Campaign for saturation of all PM-KISAN beneficiaries with Kisan Credit Cards(KCC). To provide the benefit of KCC to all PM-KISAN beneficiaries in Mission Mode and with a view to ensuring coverage a 15-day special drive was also started from 8th February 2020. Also, a form devised by Indian Bank’s Association (IBA) has been uploaded on the websites of all Scheduled Commercial Banks as well as on the PM-KISAN portal for eligible beneficiaries of PM-KISAN to avail the benefit of the Kisan Credit Card,” says Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar in a reply to a question in Lok Sabha.
“The Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) aims at providing financial assistance to landholding farmer families across the country, subject to certain exclusion criteria, to enable them to take care of expenses related to agriculture and allied activities as well as domestic needs,” he adds
“Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) all the landholding farmers’ families, subject to certain exclusion criteria, get the benefit of the Scheme. This Scheme does not restrict any eligible beneficiary from getting the benefit of other Schemes prevailing in the Government,” he adds further.
