PM Modi inaugurates projects in Tamil Nadu

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Tiruppur , Tamil Nadu from Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, and inaugurated many projects.

Among them was the last stretch of the underground Chennai Metro stretch between AG-DMS and Washermenpet, thus completing Phase I of the project. The PM inaugurated this through video-conferencing from Tiruppur.

In Tiruppur he laid the foundation stones for the IR 2,467 crore modernisation of Chennai International Airport Phase II and the new Integrated Terminal Building of the Tiruchirapalli International airport, which would be constructed at a cost of INR 951.28 crore.

Modi also inaugurated the Bharat Petroleum Corporatio Limited (BPCL) Ennore Coastal Installation and the New Crude Oil Pipeline from Chennai Port to CPCL Manali Refinery. Tamil Nadu governor Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister K Palanisami, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and union ministers were present on the occasion.

Modi inaugurated two ESI hospitals — a 100-bed hospital at Tiruppur and a 470-bed Medical college and Hospital at KK Nagar in Chennai.

The prime minister then addressed a public meeting, the second in Tamil Nadu, after the one in Madurai, where he initiated BJP’s election campaign.
