Union Minister for Consumer Affairs Ram Vilas Paswan has urged Delhi Government to nominate a non-political person as part of a joint team for the collection of water samples from the national capital.
Mr Paswan has written a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in this regard. The Delhi Government has nominated two members including Jal Board Deputy Chairman Dinesh Mohania and its Member Shalabh Kumar for the joint team.
Mr Paswan said, Mr Mohania is a politician, not a technical expert. He said, the Delhi Jal Board Chief Executive Officer would be a better choice as the Central Government has appointed Bureau of Indian Standards Director General and Deputy Director General as members of the joint team that will take the water samples.
Last week, Mr Paswan had released the second phase of the BIS study which stated that Delhi along with Kolkata and Chennai failed in almost 10 out of 11 quality parameters of drinking water.
