Parliamentary Standing Committee arrives in Leh on 3-day visit

A 30 member Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children and Youth Affairs led by Dr Vinay Sahasrabuddhe has arrived in Leh for a 3 day visit. After reorganization of erstwhile JK State, newly created Union Territory Ladakh is focussing on strengthening education institutions, CBSE affiliation to existing schools and rationalization of schools to improve Student-teacher ratio and educational infrastructure.

Ladakh has 22 thousand students in 907 Government schools and over 29 thousand students in 112 private schools. UT Administration is spending 3.59 lakh rupees to educate each student.

Committee will visit various public and private schools in Leh and hold meetings with UT officials.
