Upon receiving requests from various states, Indian Railways initiated the supply of liquid medical oxygen tanks by operationalizing Oxygen Express through green corridors in a bid to ensure faster transportation.
So far, Indian Railways has delivered 1,125 MT of Liquid Medical Oxygen in 76 tankers to various states across the country. Continuing the momentum, 20 Oxygen Expresses have already completed their journey, while 7 more loaded Oxygen Express trains are on the run carrying 422 metric tonnes of liquid medical oxygen in 27 tankers.
States where Oxygen Express Reached till now
Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh will be receiving the 10th consignment of oxygen by the Indian Railways. So far, the state has received over 355 metric tonnes of LMO.
Haryana
Haryana will receive its fourth and fifth Oxygen Express consignment carrying nearly 72 metric tonnes of the life-saving gas from Angul and Rourkela (Orissa). So far, Haryana has received 109.71 metric tonnes of LMO through Oxygen Express trains.
Telangana
Services of Oxygen Express have been expanded to the state of Telangana, as the state will receive its second Oxygen Express from Angul carrying 60.32 metric tonnes of LMO.
Delhi
Third Oxygen Express carrying 120 metric tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen is on its way from Durgapur to Delhi and is expected to reach on May 4. So far, Delhi has received 190 MT of LMO through Oxygen Express trains.
Madhya Pradesh
Oxygen Express train will reach Madhya Pradesh with the life-saving gas and this will be the fourth consignment to be received by the state. So far, Madhya Pradesh has received 156.96 metric tonnes of LMO through these trains.
Maharashtra
The first Oxygen Express carrying seven tankers filled with life-saving LMO reached Maharashtra from Visakhapatnam on April 23. Nearly, 174 MT of life-saving oxygen has been received by the state to date.
Oxygen Express has come as a boon in curbing the oxygen crisis that has emerged following the sudden spike in demand for medical oxygen. In these unprecedented times, Indian Railways are working around the clock to supply the essentials and in view of this, many more states have pushed the demand for medical oxygen tanks.
