Government has said that over 69 lakh tonnes of Paddy has been procured from more than six lakh farmers during the ongoing Kharif Marketing Season. Agriculture Ministry said, Food Corporation of India along with other government agencies have procured paddy from various States and Union Territories of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttarakhand, Chandigarh, Kerala and Jammu and Kashmir.
The Ministry said, the government continues to procure Kharif crops at its Minimum Support Price, MSP from farmers as per its existing MSP Scheme. The total MSP value till date has been to the tune of over 13 thousand 128 crore rupees.
The Agriculture Ministry said, based on the proposal from the States, approval was accorded for procurement of over 41 lakh tonnes of Pulse and Oilseeds for Kharif Marketing Season 2020 for ten States. These States are Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Telangana, Gujarat, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan and Andhra Pradesh. The Ministry has also sanctioned procurement of 1.23 lakh tonnes of Copra for the States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
