Operation Sindhu: Flight carrying 110 Indian citizens evacuated from Iran arrives in Delhi

The flight carrying 110 Indian students evacuated from northern Iran landed in New Delhi in the wee hours today. India has launched Operation Sindhu to evacuate its nationals from Iran in view of the deteriorating situation due to the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel. As a first step, the Indian Embassy in Tehran evacuated the 110 Indian students from northern Iran, assisting them in safely crossing over into Armenia on the 17th of this month. The students travelled by road to the Armenian capital, Yerevan, under the supervision of the Indian Missions in Iran and Armenia. These students departed from Yerevan on a special flight last afternoon and reached New Delhi this morning. The External Affairs Ministry has said in a statement that the Indian government is grateful to the governments of Iran and Armenia for the facilitation of the smooth evacuation process.

Talking to Akashvani News, Amaan Nazar, an Indian student studying MBBS in Tehran, shared his experience after being evacuated amidst security challenges in Iran.

Zehran Butt from Jammu and Kashmir, who is also pursuing MBBS, expressed his gratitude to the government of India.

Another student from J&K, T Islam, praised the arrangements made by the External Affairs Ministry in evacuating them.

India accords the highest priority to the safety and security of Indian nationals abroad. As part of the ongoing operation, the Indian Embassy in Iran has been assisting large numbers of Indian nationals in moving from areas with increased hostilities to relatively safer areas within the country and subsequently evacuating them using the available and feasible options.
