Olympic-bound Indian shooters will receive their COVID-19 vaccination on 6 May 2021. The Indian shooters will be leaving for Zagreb, Croatia on 11 May 2021 for the European Championship.
As there are several restrictions on travel across international borders, the entire squad will be flying in a charter plane which will also decrease the threat of contracting the deadly virus. The team includes players, coaches, and the support staff.
The squad will stay back in Zagreb
The European championship will take place from May 20 to June 6. As the 2020 Tokyo Olympics will begin on 23 July 2021, the Indian shooting team will stay back in Zagreb (Croatia) and will leave from there for the mega event.
During this period, the team will be preparing for the Olympics. Fifteen shooters have qualified for the Tokyo Olympics and, they will be aiming for medals. The European Championship will act as a preparatory tournament for the shooters ahead of the Tokyo Olympics.
List of Indian Shooter to participate in Tokyo Olympics
A staggering 15 places have been booked by Indian shooters in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. This is one of the largest shooting contingents from India at the Olympics.
The players have performed exceptionally well in the past tournaments and they will be aiming for gold at the mega event. In the latest Shooting World Cup held at New Delhi, India won 30 medals, including 15 gold.
