In Andaman and Nicobar, night Curfew will be effective from midnight tonight in view of the recent surge in Covid-19 cases.
The restriction will be effective till 30th April or until further order. District Magistrate, South Andaman issued an order which strictly prohibited the movement of individuals between 10PM to 5AM. While in North and Middle Andaman and Nicobar district the movement will be prohibited from 9PM to 5AM. The respective DMs has also issued order in this regard.The orders have been issued by exercising the powers vested under section 144 of CRPC.
However, exemptions have been provided to persons involved in essential and emergency services like Doctors, Nurses, paramedical staff upon production of valid Identity card.
Meanwhile, 12 new cases of Covid-19 reported in A&N Islands yesterday. It consists of 2 airport arrivals and 10 contacts. One patient recovered as well. Now the active case tally has reached 71. All the positive cases are in South Andaman district only. Out of the total 5161 cases reported so far, 5028 recovered.
A total of 16279 people aged above 45 got vaccinated with the first dose till yesterday. 26 have been vaccinated with second dose.
