Mumbai High Court directs all striking MSRTC employees to resume work by 22nd April

The Mumbai High Court has directed all the striking Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation-MSRTC employees to resume work by 22nd April and urged the administration to have a lenient attitude towards them. With many employees already resuming duties, the Court has asked the rest to do the same as the government has accepted almost all of their demands except the merger of MSRTC with the state government.

The state government said it is ready to take back all the employees but the cases against them won’t be withdrawn and the law would take its own course. The court requested the government to have a lenient attitude towards the employees and asked the employees to give and assurance that such behavior would not be repeated. Transport Minister Anil Parab said everyone has the right to get justice but the people should not be held hostage for the same.

He said the workers’ strike has not only harmed ST but also the workers themselves as they are facing financial hardship. Congress ST Workers Union, General Secretary, Shrirang Berge said right now they have adopted wait and watch policy and would express their views after getting further clarification on the matter.
