MP govt orders Magisterial inquiry into Bhopal boat tragedy

Madhya Pradesh government has suspended a Revenue Inspector and ordered a Magisterial inquiry in the case of a boat accident today in Bhopal.

Two people have also been arrested. The Prime Minister has also expressed grief over this accident.

In this incident, eleven people drowned today when a boat carrying them capsized during Ganesh idol immersion in Khatlapura ghat in Lower Lake of Bhopal, while six were rescued. An ex-gratia of  11 lakh rupees each was announced by the State Government for next of kin of the deceased.

At the same time, Bhopal Municipal Corporation has announced to give two lakh rupees each while Red Cross has also announced 50 thousand rupees to the kin of each deceased.
