Prime Minister Narendra Modi this evening inaugurated the Indian Institute of Technology and Indian Institute of Information Technology – both institutions located in Dharwad. He also witnessed the e-Gruhapravesh of 2350 houses built in Dharwad under the PMAY (Urban) scheme.
Union minister DV Sadananda Gowda, Karnataka minister RV Deshpande and MP Prahlad Joshi were present on the occasion.
The PM also launched the City Gas Distribution Project in Dharwad and SPR facilities in Mangaluru and Padur. He inaugurated the work for the Chikkajajuru-Mayakonda railway line.
Speaking on the occasion, Modi paid tributes to the seer of Siddaganga Mutt, Sri Sri Shivakumara Swamiji for his great spiritual and philanthropic service.
Modi spoke about the five objectives of “Vikas” – education for children, employment for the youth, healthcare for the elderly, agriculture for the farmers, welfare for the people – and the central government is firmly proceeding with these five objectives.
Modi said that most of the youth of Hubli-Dharwad would benefit from his government’s decision to exclude people earning up to five lakh rupees per annum from the taxation bracket.
