Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has said that the delay in holding official talks with the Assam Government to solve the long-pending boundary dispute between the two states is due to its complex nature.
Addressing media persons today at Shillong, the Chief Minister said that before the new leadership took over in Assam, many discussions have been held.
Stating that the Ministry of Home Affairs has asked both the State Governments to resolve the boundary issues, unofficial talks on the issue is still going on.
Informing that there is no simple solution to the decade-old issue, the Chief Minister maintained that an amicable solution which is acceptable to the people of both the states will be found out.
He stated that it is the endeavour of the Government of Meghalaya to bring an end to the boundary dispute with Assam before the country celebrates its 75th Independence Day.
