Maharashtra reports highest single day spike of COVID-19 cases: ICMR

In Maharashtra, the highest single-day spike since the first infection was detected  yesterday. The Genome Sequencing by the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Consortium on Genomics, INSACOG has shown variants of concern and a Novel variant in India. Analysis of samples from Maharashtra revealed that new mutations are found in 15-20% samples.
 
While talking exclusively to AIR, ICMR’s Head for epidemiology and communicable disease Dr. Samiran Panda said that, Whether it is a new strain or old strain, its way of infection is the same. People are ignoring Covid 19 guidelines. As per recent sero survey, 75 % Indians are not infected by Corona virus. So, He appealed to everyone to follow social distancing, mask and avoid social gathering.
