Maharashtra Government has allowed conditioned reopening of schools from 15th of July. School Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad has informed that starting of classes 8-12 has been permitted in villages which have not seen a case of coronavirus in the last one month. She added that it is compulsory for gram panchayats to adopt a resolution that COVID appropriate behaviour will be followed. She said that a blended approach to education is the need of the hour and online education will continue to be promoted even as the state toils towards safe resumption of schools.
In a Government Resolution issued in this regard, the education department has said that a seven member committee, headed by the village sarpanch and including the school principal as member will have to be constituted. This committee will have discussions with parents regarding reopening of schools. It will also work with government authorities for priority vaccination of school staff and teachers. Considering the possibility of a third wave, this committee will strictly implement all protocols like calling students in small batches in alternate shifts.
