The Punjab government ordered the evacuation of about 250 villages as the gates of Pandoh and Nathpa Jhakri dams in Himachal Pradesh were also opened and the high-flood level is likely to reach downstream districts of Punjab in another 12 to 18 hours.
‘The state government would ensure time-bound clearance of all major roads to ensure people of the state, particularly horticulturists, and the tourists do not face any difficulty travel,” the chief minister assured the media on Sunday.The district administrations have announced holiday for all the educational institutions in Shimla, Solan, Bilaspur and Kullu districts on Monday.
