The Kerala Government has decided to grant permission to local bodies to issue an approval for killing wild boars. The carcass of wild boars shall be cremated in a scientific manner and reported to the Department of Forest. Wild boars can be trapped and killed but the Department of Forest has strictly banned electrocution or poisoning.
Earlier, only the chief wildlife warden had the authority to give permission to shoot the wild boars in the State.
The Government move comes in the wake of growing human-wild animal conflicts in the State.
